Dear Platform MaterialDigital Community,

The year is coming to an end. Time to pause and look back. A lot has happened at the platform in the past year and we have made a lot of progress in all areas.

The community is growing and we welcomed our academic projects to the platform in spring. One by one, the projects have started their work and are getting more and more involved with the platform. Within PMD, we have expanded our working groups and have now established a community working group in addition to workflows, ontology and IT architecture. All working groups have an area in the forum and will report news, discussions, ideas and comments with you.

Digitalisation in the field of materials science and materials engineering and in consequence the platform MaterialDigital are met with more and more interest. The community is growing steadily. More than 1000 people are now registered on our website, which we are continuously revising and extending. In this newsletter we would like to give you an outlook on possible connection points with the platform as well as a summary of past events.

Dear Platform MaterialDigital community, We hope you have all had a good start to the new year. 2021 is an exciting year for the MaterialDigital platform, not only because of the new BMBF projects currently starting, but also because of a new call for proposals within the funding programme. In addition, one of the member institutes of our consortium is celebrating an anniversary. Enclosed we give you an overview of current developments at PMD.

Dear Platform MaterialDigital community, an extraordinary year is coming to an end, in which special challenges had to be mastered for all of us, including us as PMD team. This year, many hardworking hands were involved (most of them virtually) in the development of the platform MaterialDigital (PMD) and were able to achieve a lot despite some challenges and a large number of construction sites. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved for their work and efforts. At the end of the year, we would like to give you an overview of what we have worked on this year and how it will continue in 2021.

Dear users of the MaterialDigital platform, A lot has happened worldwide in the last few months. The MaterialDigital platform (PMD) was also surprised by the Corona pandemic and as a result switched its cross-organizational working methods to a virtual working environment. Despite the difficult conditions, we are pleased with what we have been able to achieve since then: The PMD is taking on more and more shape. Enclosed we give you an overview of our highlights. Information on the PMD's approach, its organisation, upcoming projects and a survey on behalf of NFDI-MatWerk.
